I don't understand the test results....

I do understand the negative for the cl part, but in the Bacteriology part (from pus sample) it reads:
BACTERIAL AEROBIC CULTURE:
Staphylococcus spp. coagulase negative Sm#

GRAM STAIN:
Gram positive cocci Rare

I have googled these words but I can't understand what it is I'm reading.....

Hope you find out soon! Especially for the "gram positive cocci Rare"
Can you call the lab for an explanation?

I suggest calling the lab too.

But it looks like it's a coagulase-negative staph infection. That means (most likely I believe) S. epidermidis. I don't know what Sm# means.

Gram staining is a much more general test than determining the actual species. All staph is gram-positive. Antibiotics either work on gram-positive or gram-negative bacteria. So it helps narrow down antibiotics, but you have even better info with the species.

Not sure about the 'cocci Rare' part.

Sm# means "Small number." "cocci Rare" means that there was an occasional cocci (round) bacterium seen, but very few.

though its allot of medical jargon
Think your tests results are saying negative for staph though present, positive for strep ...call the lab to be sure.
