Urine scald

What do you do for a buck that just won't quit peeing on himself? One of my boys has the back of his legs RAW along with the side of his mouth and face. He's not with the other bucks, too hormonal. I washed him with Aloedine shampoo and covered the raw places with Desitin (sp) but he rubs, and pees it all off. I'm about ready to wether him and be done with it. Any suggestions? Freezer camp is not an option. Maybe I could make him an apron.

I have a little 11 week old buckling that I have to put a 'diaper' on when he comes in the milk room for his bucket. You may be able to fashion one that will allow him to pee but not extend out????? Other than what you have already done, I can't think of anything else....

Hmmm, I don't know. I think he'd probably enjoy that somehow.

Gosh he must be pretty bad, My buck always pee's on himself as well but has never had urine scald before.
I wonder if Tri-Care would work better than the desitin? I get it at TSC in the equine section. It also has a pain reliever, antibiotic & protection from moisture, etc. in it. It's not exspensive & I have used it on the goats when scurs get knocked off & also on a baby rabbit that got it's leg stuck in the wire before, So at least you'd be able to use it for other things if it didn't do the trick.

If he's a really good quality buck, I think I'd try the apron first. At the same time, do another bath and some more salve on the raw areas, which you might have to repeat even with the apron. If that doesn't work, then time to wether him.
