Neighbor's goat has small bumps....

on her udder & teats and inside her ears.

I have been milking her this week and noticed the pimple-like bumps on her udder & teats the first day. Then, last night, my 16yo dd noticed that inside of the ears also had the same type of bumps.

I have searched the forum and can only find ear mites as a possible cause. Also looked in all of my books and Goat Pox was the only other thing I could come up with.

Do any of you wiser & more experienced people have any other ideas?

The neighbor worms regularly with Cydectin and the goats are all out on a nice pasture but it previously had cows and horses. Also, I have milked for them before and never noticed these.

Thanks!!

Two possible things come to mind...udder warts or a staph infection.

If some have a white head of pus then they're probably staph.

If your neighbors have they blue teat dip then you can wash her udder with it and that will clear up a staph infection.

I didn't notice any pus - but that doesn't mean there isn't some with pus. They are more like blind pimples and there are lots and lots of them. Warts would be a good description but they are in her ears, too.

What is the blue teat dip?

Also, I will check the other goats and see if any of them have anything in their ears. I should have thought of that yesterday. Sorry.

Are the mosquitoes out where you are? It's quite likely that these bumps are bug bites.

I have the same thing going on with one of my does, So far it is just on her udder. It isn't sore mouth, I have seen that before.
I am washing with the clorohexadine wash, and am not sure if I should save the milk or not. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Thanks, I figured it would be ok. We have a show in two weeks, hopefully it will be gone by then.
