Sold goats, gonna miss them!

This may sound ridiculous to some, but I know how everyone here loves their goats.

We sold Charlotte a yearling FF and a buckling and Charlotte's baby, they are going to great people who are new to goats. But I might cry! We have raised Charlotte since she was in the womb! But we are trying to improve our herd and she while a decent made goat, great personality, just didn't have everything we want to improve in our herd.

I am delivering her to their house this afternoon. I have made a little "book" of things the 3 will need. I get to inspect where they will be living and they will call me if they need anything. I do know that they are going to a gated property on 10 acres that is fenced and already set up for goats. The lady is from Germany and grew up on goats milk, and a stay at home mom. They came by and milked Charlotte the other night and took home her milk.

It is a great home, or I wouldn't have sold them to them...but I sure will miss Charlotte, Diesel and Kane

I certainly can identify. I've made a fool out of myself crying when some of my babies left me. It sounds like yours are going to a good home.

This is so much the problem of milk goats..... letting go of the excess animals who have become part of the family!

I know how you feel... but you made a good decision for YOUR herd plan. I am so glad that you found them all a good home...

Sounds like a very sound, carefully considered decision. Can't do any better than that.

I dunno. I just came in from giving the kids their bottles, and if I had a buyer right this minute, the does would be gone in a heartbeat. (Not the wether. We're fattening him up...)

The little beasts jumped on me, darned near knocked me down.

I don't want to be sad when I sell mine, so I think what I'll do is make sure I go out to give one last bottle. When they mob me, I'd darned near give 'em away!

The transition to the goats new home went great. This place was more than beautiful it has the view of heaven! 360 degree view of the Rampart Range(which in mho is the prettiest part of Colorado, should you ever visit my area you must take a drive down hwy 105), the town of Castle Rock and the valley that takes you south to Colorado Springs. The goats have 2 separate pens, with 2, 2 acre fenced and electric wired all the way around pastures. With tons of browse. They plan on fencing off more since they have 40 acres. Charlotte, Diesel, and Kane are now living at the Ritz for goats, with a great family. I will go back out to give Diesel and Kane their boosters of CD&T, plus they have my number in case they need anything. Seeing their new home made me less sad.
