Twilight Zone here

Welcome to the Twilight Zone. I don't have pictures yet but soon I will. I have heard it can happen but never have seen it in my own herd and even then have only heard of one story where this happened. This one though is a true miracle.

I hand bred my mom's LaMancha doe to her Nigerian Dwarf buck. I did this one time and she took from that breeding. Never exposed to any other bucks. Fast forward 5 months. About 2 days ago Ricoalette the doe went into labor. This was day 152 for her. FINALLY I see the bubble and assist in delivering the kid. A beautiful black and white STANDARD buck kid. Quickly followed by his HALF sister a MINI LaMancha. If I hadn't delivered these kids myself I would say you where lying if you told me they came out of the same doe. There is NO doubt that the buck kid Charlie is full bred LaMancha. We have only two bucks on our place my 6yr old LaMancha Toy and my mom's Nigerian Dwarf Jack Jack. I know what Toy's kids look like and this is a Toy kid not to mention size wise and looks the two are total opposites.

Charlie has the gopher ears which from what I understand can only come from LaMancha on LaMancha. If he was from a nigerian dwarf buck he would either have ears or elf ears but not gopher ears. He is about 6 pounds where as Lucy his shrimp sister weighs probably 3 pounds and is as mini as you can get. She is for sure a nigie cross baby. Charlie got pulled due to his mom rejecting him while accepting his sister. These kids side by side look as different as night and day.

I can't figure out how on earth she got bred to Toy! His pen is all the way on the other end of the property and he never got near Ricoalette that we know of. But this is his kid. I think we might have flying sperm in the air! . I will post pictures but I had to share my Twilight Zone story. Like I said if I hadn't delivered these kids myself I would never believe it. Like I said I know that a doe can have kids from two different sires at the same time....but....this?

Justine

I didn't weigh my minimancha boy at birth but when he was 5 1/2 months old he goat taped at 93 lbs. My husband could barely pick him up and he stepped on a scale and the scale wouldn't go up high enough to take a reading. He was huge. He has elf ears. No other buck around but a nigerian. Now I have a year old minimancha doe 22" , by the same buck. So she got his dwarfism totally. The dams are full size goats.
Read on another forum about 90 lb mini mancha doe bred to a nigerian buck having two 6 lb. kids.
