Exclamation Birthing question

We had our first pygmy birth today. The mom came into a pen and had her all on her own, however DW thinks she still has another in her and is concerned. The first was born over 6 hours ago and and the mom is acting normal though. Am I wrong in thinking that she would be acting "off" if there was a second in her and there was a problem? I have heard of "thumping", but I can't seem to tell.

I will post pics soon. Thanks for your help.

After that many hours if she is fine and the kid is suckling chances are it is fine.

You worry if she is still pushing, feeling lousy, has smelly goo coming out, didnt pass the afterbirth for sure, wont nurse kid, feverish, doesn't want to eat, doesn't want to drink, lays around and doesn't want to get up or stands in one spot and doesn't want to walk around, and so on.

If this idea is because she still looks pg...thats ok. Pygmys like that look.

Worm her within 24 hours with a good wormer not a safeguard type!!
Kidding causes worm blooms.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I put her in her own private pen with the baby. I'm thinkn she is a first timer, but she is letting the kid nurse, but tends to just leave her and act like she never had a kid.

Leaving her & the baby together will help them bond too, a day or 2 in the private pen should be good depending on your set up & what you feel comfortable with.

I agree with River Pines though, she sounds like she's normal to me too.
