Update on dog bite injury

Update on dog bite injury - Goats

Here are photos of the wound after I cleaned it again today - I called and emailed the vet with this photo and explained everything
since I last spoke with him.
I asked him what he would advise, since obviously, the pen. isn't helping, but I am quite concerned that the damage is bad enough that maybe
it is too late - of course, I always think the worst. I felt I needed something strong to begin with, but the vet is who said the penicillin was good enough.

Give it some time- I've had to deal with a goat who ripped her hoof off before- when they did the amputation and dressed the wounds for weeks, it looked a bit like this when we changed dressings, but it healed nice and smooth, she gets around fine.

I would look at a topical dressing like Proudsoff, or Cut Heal to keep the area slathered in.

I have something I keep in the drawer for all the animals. It's called Tri-Care, made by Farnam Horse Products. 3 way wound treatment. prevents infection, pain relief, and a barrier for flies, water and germs. Contains emu oil and tea tree oil to promote healing. In other words its good stuff.

It looks bruised and sore but appears to be healing normally. Keep up with the Pen for a full round, but don't give up.

I wonder if some tea tree oil would help. My mom uses that on her horses if they get injured withs cut or scrape. I have used it on goats for cuts and scrapes as well.

This is good stuff. I bought it at TSC & have used it on goats & rabbits here before.

I have Tri-Care, and the collasate spray I'm using is a bit like Proud's Off for pround flesh. Glad to know it doesn't look at bad as I thought, hopefully.
I covered it in Collasate and triple Antibiotic ointment after taking this photo.
