What to do with her??

Lone doe:

So my doe has been alone for a week now because her yearling has died. I think that because she knows the kid is dead is why she is relativly quiet and content. Compared to how she is when I pulled her buckling from her last year... constantly calling for him. She doesn't call at all now. We just moved her home.. long story and have a dog run set up in my garage for them until my calf hut that I ordered comes in. Since the death of the yearly I keep my dog out in the garage with her for company. { I wonder if she likes that ?}
Well I called to see when my hutch is coming in { they said 3-4 weeks} And they informed me they never put the order in!!!!
Ahhh! Ive been waiting a month for this thing! I went down to give a deposit and they said I didn't need one. So they just lost the order somewhere.
Now the problem is I really don't want her alone for another month in my garage...{nor my husband}.And I can't get her another goat companion and just put it in the dog run with he in case they don't get along ect... The dog run is 8x6. But I figured it would be better to introduce I new goat in the pasture where they can have some space from eachother. Or I can put the new goat in the dog run for a couple days.to separate them and keep the other in the hutch.
My friend who just got to kids said I can keep my doe at her house till the hutch comes in.
So my dilema is do I move her there for a month and then bring her home to a strange goat.? or keep her here alone, though content she still seems lonely by her self grazing?
What to do, what to do?

I am not sure I understand. . . why she is in the garage. Is she in there becasue you don't have shelter for her in the pasture? Is so, rig something for the time being. . .
you can use a $20 cattle panel with a tarp, a dog house, even some type of lean to.
I wouldn't worry at all about just putting a new goat out with her. I've done this many times. . .no problems. They will bond.

I had the dog run set out i n the pasture befor but they constantly eat and mess with the tarp. Also our nights are still very cool. and last week very windy and rainy. So I figured she would be warmer in their. Since where she was previously kept her in the barn 24/7!! Don't ask!!
But this coming week seems to be warmer. you don't think it will be a problem to just put them together?
All I know is horses and dogs, and I figured if its anything like that it I should give them some time and space. My doe is so passive I don't want her getting kicked out of the run.

Then get a younger doe as a companion. One that does not think she is in charge.

I was not informed until the morning of once that my new goats were coming, so I threw together a shelter out of plywood, open in the front, and another I tossed together made out of pallets. We were still slapping that one together as they drove up a month early, lol.

Those shelters did the job until I got it all settled. They both faced south due to our winds here and had good bedding in them.

Agree -Thaiblue- did the same thing here pallet and plywood screwed together it held over the winter and I just recently took it down since I will be building a goat house this summer. AND at the moment I have a room made from a cattle panel arched over and covered with a tarp, the back is of plywood so I can milk and not have to stand in the rain, it also doubles as a spare room for who ever gets kicked out of the goat shed for the night. Plus I have a couple of extra large igloo dog houses. Though I will say I caught Gypsy sleeping on top of the central air unit in the mornings....hmmm gonna have to build a box to protect that dern goats keep ya on your toes. Not fancy here but working on it.

Ok I found a pic with the plywood shelter. I used four 2x4's dug into the ground and 2 sheets of plywood that I had them cut at home depot. It cost me about $20 to build it and took about an hour because the ground so was darn hard to dig. It lasted a long time and kept them warm in the winter due to the straw bedding and it facing out of the wind. I did seal it with whatever that is called for decks and whatnot, to repell water.

Yes they destroyed the playground I amde them in a couple of weeks from the pushing and rubbing up against it and I used screws!
But you can see the goat house in the background.
