Size question

I purchased a 14 month old Alpine/Nubian "doe" yesterday. I think she's probably a hemaphrodite. The lady I bought her from said she wouldn't breed and she's kind of "bucky" in build. I bought her for the freezer, so that's not a problem. My question is this. This goat at 14 months is at least twice as large as my does that are 2-3 months older than her. What am I doing wrong!?

My doelings are bottle raised to 16 weeks on goat milk, freefed 15% goat feed and alfalfa hay until breeding time, dewormed at 12 weeks and again 10 days later then about every 3 months. (I've been using Cydectin and Safeguard alternating). CDT vaccs start at 12 weeks as well. How do I get this kind of size on my girls?

Genetics. It's all in the genetics.

Also, being a hemaphrodite, couldn't that effect her size?

I have 2 sisters raised exactly the same way. One is a hemaphrodite and much larger then her sister.

Feed more milk and make sure your cocci prevention is working. I don't wean my breeders until they hit 100#'s at about 6-8 months of age. Year old does are normally 10-20lbs less then their dams and maybe 1" shorter, but they fill that up in the next year. I get complements from people coming out thinking kids are older then they are because of their growth. You may not need to worm so heavily, I'd fecal and see so you're not building a resistance.

She may be a little larger because of her buck characteristics.

WOW!!!! My yearling does are only about 1/2 the size of my adults! They seem very healthy, eating well, but I'm fortunate to get them large enough to breed by the next breeding season! This year's doeling is doing well. She's almost as large as my yearlings, and she was born in January. She does have a different sire though. I guess it must be the genetics after all.
