Enablers, I call on you!

Ok, so I got stuck with a singleton, and of course that just wouldn't do. So I threw myself on the phone looking for a kid to bottle feed, or a lamb.
I ended up talking to the farm I bought the mama from, and they wouldn't sell me just a kid, I had to take mama too. Guess what I said?
He's not asking much for them either, cause they have a few too many right now. The kid is a week older than Ferdinand and the doe is an underdog, so she's not a fighter.

Now I'll just have to work up the courage to tell DH about the fact that I'm taking on two more goats AND that he will have to drive me.

I HAD to get little Ferdinand some company, right? Right?

If you were my wife I'd say no. And I'm not even a guy. Two more mouths to feed? Two more animals to clean up after? Are they going to produce enough to make themselves worth while? lol Someone has to be the voice of reason. Your DH will thank me!

They are not more mouths to feed, we have plenty of acreage for them to clean up!
In fact we just fenced in another field and were wondering how were supposed to keep it neat - now we don't have to!

Actually, he just said "oh - will that be okay with the mamas and all?" and I told him yes, and then he didn't mind.
Then I told him I sold three chickens today and he asked me if a flock of now 13 chickens isn't a bit few? Perhaps I need to hatch some? So I told him he could by me an incubator as an early birthday present (it's in May).

I think he must have hit his head!

If he did not have to drive you I could give you one of many many excuses, reasons, falsehoods I have used

My husband is not very bright when it comes to the farm animals. My neighbor knew I had a new goat for a month before he figured it out. He saw her alot and even pet her and had no clue till he saw them all together. that was wehn I had a total of four, not 44!!

Voice of reason, wrong forum lol. What is two more, they do not eat that much or take up that much room. The baby needs someone to bounce and play with Also use puppy dog eyes, wear soemthing nice, cook something good, and then hit him with it

Post pictures of your new goats.

Oh I just read what you posted, good hubby

Nah, he's just finally succumbed to Goatie Goodness.

You should have heard/seen Nick this morning, when we were trimming the buck's hooves. Nick was sitting on Beaux, but talking to him all sweet and stuff, telling him what a good boy he was.

Nick was even sweeter when he was holding Clark, Beaux's little pygmy wether pal. "Oh, Clark, you're just a big ol' teddy bear, aren't you?"

Guys get goatie goodness - it just takes them time, sometimes.

(The birds? Well, while Nick likes eating them, I overdid it last year with 200 chickens, so.... That's going to have to wait.)

200 chickens? that's funny, my hubby was asking yesterday how many chickens we now have, I had to count, well, there's the ones outside, then the ones in the barn, then do I really have to count the eggs in the incy? we don't know if they'll all hatch or not

200 chickens, oh my! This is a very small smallholding, six and a half acres of mostly rugged woodland. Wouldn't know what to do with 200 chickens! Let them all roam the field?

Our animals are all pets, I guess. I was up to 25 chickens, but then alot were roos and I sold some mix hens. Planning on making some pretty Faverolles and Brahma chicks though!

As for the goats, they were never planned, they just kinda happened. And now they just happened to double. I wasn't really planning on keeping the new mom and kid here forever (just as a playmate for the buckling), but then DH started talking about how he hates to see animals go and even misses our horribly destructive buck, so maybe they'll stay..

Tomorrow we'll be up to two dogs, three cats, five goats and 13 chickens. I love country life.

Pictures will certainly come! In the meantime, enjoy videos of Ferdinands first trip outside!
