My doe got attacked by a horse :( please help!

My 4 yr old Nubian doe got attacked by an old retired gelding this morning.
I thank god got there in time or he would have for sure killed her.

He had her by the back, and neck and was tossing her up in the air like a doll.
It was simply horrible- I couldn't get him to stop till a neighbor came over with a lunge whip, and my dog finally started helping.

She was down in the field, walked a few steps, then we put her in a blanket and carried her up to the barn. I thought I was about to lose her a few times,, gums very pale, layed out a few times.

But then she stood up! I cant believe it! I have since gotten 1 cc banamine in her. Talked to vet he will be out later but I may go get some DMSO and give it orally to her to help with spinal swelling.

She can take a few steps, there appears to be swelling around the middle of her spine, she has a small wound on her mouth, but no other external injuries.

Any other meds or things I can be doing for her??? I have horses, so mostly its all horse meds I have available.

I am SO sorry about your situation! How horrible for you and your doe. I don't have any advice, and it sounds like you're doing all you can. I hope the vet arrives soon, and that things will go well for your girl. Prayers and Positive Energy.

How about some cold therapy? Icing her spine may keep the swelling down to a minimum and reduce the risk to the actual cord. Sounds like you need to get the vet there sooner than later.

I have not really dealt with this type of whole body trauma before......I would certainly give her at least a couple more cc's of Banamine as 1 isn't enough.
She is bound to be horribly sore and stiff.

Ice treatment, no more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time for swelling. NO heat!!!
Also, I'm really big on Fortified Vit B. She has been stressed to the max so Vit B will help with that.
If she is sore, the "not moving" could be the soreness. Will she let you touch her spine? Is it so tender that she can't stand it? Have you run your hands over her to see if there is anything misaligned or broken? Did she slam into the ground at any point?

I would definately worm her too! All that stress may have caused her worm load to explode, that's probly why her gums are so pale.

I have a homemade Electrolyte water recipe I mix up for my doe's after they kid or any stressed animal.
It is :
1 Liter warm water
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 TBSP. Honey or sugar
Mix that up & give it to her. Sure can't hurt her.

How is she doing today?

hey guys!
She is doing ok for now!!

AMAZING that she can get around (in a stall) she is eating, drinking, pooping and peeing! I did give her some SMZ's today and still on banamine as she had one external wound on her mouth that is getting very swollen and infected. I am also getting worried about possibly pneumonia from cracked/broken ribs.

She is not very tender to the touch, lets me rub DMSO on her neck and spine, I cant tell if anything is broken, but she is getting around ok so maybe not! Could be just terrible bruising. Still need fingers crossed for her I think!

How is she doing now? I would also give Nutri drench. She needs the extra energy. Poor girl.

I don't know what I would do if my horses did not get along with the goats. My horses help "hide" the goats from me at times.
