Need ideas for H2o hauling

Next week we get to bring some goats to an earth day event for about 6hrs. The place has no water.
The horse trailer we will be using has no place to actually secure a metal garbage can full. The bed of the truck will have panels in it so it cant ride there.
We dont want to spend an arm & a leg on some fancy container. Im figuring they will need around 10 gallons.
So Im calling on all you guys for a water...err brain storm.

Most stores that have camping gear have 5-7 gallon containers. Two of those and you should be good to go. We have a few that we use as back up water supply for the times when we lose power to the well.

just take a tub or pan of some sort for the goats to drink out of and transport the water in recyclrd plastic milk jugs or 2 liter soda bottles. you can pack the jugs/bottles in and around other stuff for the trip.

Do you have an old ice chest sitting around? Could it fit in the tack area of the horse trailer? I'd line it with a large plastic garbage bag, fill it with water and tie a knot in it and close the lid. Bring something to dip the water to put in a small bucket.

However you decide to transport it, I'd also try freezing it. It will transport more easily and stay nice and cool for your animals.

How about going down to the local grocer, go to the bakery or deli department, and pick up a few two- to five-gallon plastic buckets with lids? Wash them out, fill them up, and you're on your way. You can clip the handles to a fence to keep them from tipping when you're on site.

This is what I do for outings.
