Pepto - how much

Need to know how much pepto to give my doe. She freshened on April 2, was wormed and has been out in the fields grazing for a few days and now has very runny diarrhea. I believe I noticed her even gritting her teeth a little this morning. Any advice? Do I need to give her anything else?

First make sure there is nothing else going on.

What is her temp?

When is the last time you wormed her?

Is she nursing or are you milking?

How is her appetite?

Is she on anything other than grazing (feed, hay, minerals, etc)?

(I give a tablespoon of pepto per goat once or twice a day once I know what the problem is)

She is in pain...that is the grinding teeth. I wonder if she is bloated. Banamine is best to use for pain. If you don't have any, a horse person that lives near by might have some. Don't feed her anything but grass hay until she is better.

What did you worm her with? Living where you do, you'll need to be sure what you are using is working.
Gritting her teeth probably means her gut is hurting. At this point I'd give her banamine at once. The Pepto I'm not sure on dosage, but it would only be treating the symptom, not the cause.

Is she UTD on CDT??

How lush are her pastures??

You could be looking at Entero.

Is she still eating??

Me finally. Sorry. Was busy with more babies being born. That wraps up the Nubians for us. 4 does gave us 6 doelings and 2 bucklings! All we have left to kidd is 2 Saanens.

Yes, the girls are much better. I gave them some di-methox and their bowels have hardened up. They are all doing much, much better. Thanks.
