I'll be putting Minerva down tomorrow.

Back in February, my goat Minerva had a horrible birth that left her uterus torn and it ended up that she is pooing through her vagina. She was doing OK with that, believe it or not. But she has been walking like she has a pinched nerve in her back and now she's fallen and slicked open her front 'elbows' pretty bad. They were healing, but today a storm blew up and she ripped them open something fierce. There's blood all down her legs. It doesn't look good.

For the first time in months she's grinding her teeth a bit and acting like she's in pain. But through it all she's still eating like a champ and she still perks up when I come into the barn.

Thank you all for your help during her horrible birth. I know now that I should have put her down back then, but I thought I could save her. I was wrong and have only put off the heartache.

Let the "I told you so's" begin.

I won't say I told you so because I would have done the same thing in your shoes. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can and hope that they come through. Since she has not been suffering, and getting along well then no harm was done and at least you know you tried. I'm so sorry you have to go through the heart ache now It's just really a sad situation. Hugs to you

So glad you will be able to send her on to painlessness on your own terms. She will know you love her till the very end, and that is the best we can do for the critters that are put into our care.

It is always so hard to make these types of decisions. Praying you will find comfort in your memories of happier times together.

I will not tell you so. You did nothing wrong. I know that you did everything you could for your friend Minerva.

I'm sorry! The only "I told you so's" that you should get are, "I told you that you were doing your best" or "I told you she was lucky to have you". You did so much for Minerva, tried so hard to save her.

No "I told you so" - you did your best and gave her a chance. So sorry that you had to make this decision but good for you for being strong enough. (I always struggle with it.) Tomorrow won't be a good day but you will know you have made the right decision and she won't suffer.

So sorry
Angela
