First night twins in barn with Mama questions?

What do I need to do? Do they need anything special, heat lamp etc? It is about 8 degrees Celcius here, we are on Vancouver Island, Canada. They have dry straw, shallow water dish and hay for Mama. DO I need to check them through the night, how often etc?

If you are getting the same damp bone chilling kind of stuff we are down here and can SAFELY put in a heat lamp in the barn then I would. I know a lot of people don't and their goats are fine, but I hate to see a shivering goat.

they seem OK, a little shivery and also still wobbly. Is that normal? I have a heat lamp and its mild out today! I am also concerned about if they are getting enough milk. Mama doesn't seem REALLY bagged up, but they are sucking when I help them find the teats

I put this in your other thread but I would make sure the wax plugs are off the teats & you can squeeze milk out. Babies are wobbly for a few days.

I use a hot water bottle alot of times for my newborns. I put it under a towel in the corner or place they seem to always want to sleep & they snuggle right in with it. Usually momma will lay right there by them too.
Try & make sure there are nor droafts or wind blowing on them, plenty of dry bedding & they are usually good. Be careful with the heat lamp & make sure it's up where the goats can't pull on the cord or know the light down. Sorry, I always worry about fire.

When I wonder about the does milk, I feel the kids belly (full or caved in) and watch for them to pee. If they don't have a sunken belly and they pee enough, they are getting milk even if you don't see them and the does bag doesn't have much. I worry too though.
Deep bedding and no drafts will usually be enough as long as they are dry and are not tiny.
Can you take thir temps?
