My husband is a goat enabler!
My husband is building a goat shed for me to use until we get a second barn built for my goats. This shed is not completely finished, but I wanted to show off some pics. The siding on this shed was reused fence slats. My parents had a portion of privacy fence replaced last fall. We went out and picked up the usable pieces to use. We used the other pieces for another shed for feeder pigs.

Nice looking shed. My husband is an enabler also. He has so little interest in the goats that if I got 5 more he wouldn't notice.

That looks very similar to our buck house, only ours is 3' off the ground, and we closed off the door to 3x4.5 as it gets cold & snowy in winter & we have a very wet spring.
Very nice shed-I think you'll like it. Not only is your husband an enabler, he's a keeper, too.

Very nice! My husband is not an enabler, but he loves me and he's a little bit of a sucker he just let me buy two new doelings from Saltcreek Nubians... they're out of a Lonesome Doe buck and I am super excited...
maybe ONE day he'll be so in love with my goats he'll build them a sweet pad like that one! :lol

Thank you all so much. The barn we're building is going to be fairly cheap as well. It pays to have a FIL that works for a lumber company. DH wanted cows more than goats, but he's coming around.
My latest mission has been to get him on board for some Nigerians Dwarves from good milking lines. I know he is a sucker for the chamoisee coloration (he liked Obers the most when we stopped by the dairy goat barn at the state fair). So I conveniently left a web page up that had a picture of a sharp looking, chamoisee ND doe. He told me the next day he saw a pic of a sharp looking Nigerian, and would consider getting some if he could have one that looked like her.

Nice!
Our first goat 'house' still lives in the goat yard. I love having it- it means I can kick the goats out of the barn during the spring/summer/warm part of fall. Always nice to have extra housing!
And btw.. I WISH my dh was an enabler. My bottle babies are drinking an unbelievable amount of milk (at $5 a gal) so I tracked down an inexpensive milking doe to offset costs. We haven't even picked her up yet and.. my dh is complaining already. *sigh*

Very nice - wish my hubby were handy. He did say tonight that he didn't want me to sell our wether, because "he talks to me every time I go outside." Never knew he paid any attention to them at all. The 'stead is all my doing - although he will help with fencing if asked.

Hang on to hubby - he's a charm and the new shelter looks great! Back when we had only a few goats- my hubby built a very cool two story shelter he dubb'd the Goat'el

My hubby died in 95 and we had about 35 goats by then, I have had upwards of 250 at one time and am now down to about 100 (including this years kids)
(Note: I have moved and now have a barn housing the goats.. but the Goatel was something of a treasure as was my enabling hubby Hug your man today- I miss mine.

Katie--I think 2 are coming home April 17th. The milker should be here early May.
Goat-Link--I am very appreciative of his help with my habit. I love the Goatel, and I love the story behind it even more.
He finished it all up! Tin roofing is on, and he build a door so we can lock them up if necessary. We have some dogs in the area that run loose.

Yes, he put it on skids so we can move it around the pasture. We may eventually section off the pasture, and we wanted the option of moving the shed if we do.
