Finally!

Well after waiting for a month, our doe decided she was now ready to kid. We walked out this morning just as twins were born. We ended up with one girl and one boy. Thanks to everyone here who helped me through the waiting period. Both kids look very healthy. I have a couple of questions. The boy (solid brown) keeps one of his eyes closed about 1/2 the time. Sometimes it will be open, and other times it will be closed while the other is open. (see picture below). Also the boy is pooping this black tar looking stuff. Is this normal?

Here are some pictures. The girl is white with a black head, and the boy is the brown one.

Finally! What a pair of gorgeous kids.

Check the little one's eyelid. He may have an entropian (inverted or in-turned eyelid). It could be causing the eyelashes to irritate his eye. If that's what it is, a quick trip to the vet's and a quick stitch or two can correct the problem.

The black poop is the babies' first poop - I believe it's normal. After nursing, they'll begin to have light mustard-colored poops.

Congratulations. I really like the looks of the little doeling.

The black sticky poop is normal so don't worry there. About the eye, sometimes they can have an inverted like eye lash. I've read about it but never had that before so I hope someone else can help you with advice there. I can't imagine any kind of eye infection just being born this a.m.
They are both adorable & it looks like your little helper likes them too! Congratulations on the beautiful babies!

As of this morning the poop has turned to mustard yellow as you said. However it is the consistency of thick mustard. Is this normal also? How loose does it have to be for it to be scours?

Beautiful kids! And they look pretty big too!

The mustard poop sounds normal to me. You'll know when it's scours - it's a mess.

Yup, mustard for quite awhile! Just carry a rag with you if you intend to be very hands-on and cuddly with them, lol!

Scours will be a huge mess - all over their rear, down their legs, etc.

Cute babes!

Darling babies! My Frankie had watery eyes for a long time after he was born. SOmeone here said it might be that he got the amniotic fluid in his eyes...maybe same thing??? If you can get a close look see if the white of the eye is red and irritated. I would seek out a vet if it lingers for too long.
Congrats on the babies they are so cute!
