Last kids at Precious Cottage Farm...

Well, our remaining goat kidded last Sunday --a doeling we named Nikki and a buckling with the longest legs I have ever seen that we named Josef--and we are done with goats. I will sell Val and the babies in three or four weeks, and until then, we will enjoy the milk and play with the babies. I have been trying to work, raise children, keep up the house and the chickens AND so I made the difficult decision to set aside my goat hobby. On the plus side, maybe I can get a little extra sleep!

I am amazed at all I have learned. Hoof trimming, electric fencing, milking, but standing by watching the does give birth, and helping a little here and there as needed, has been SO wonderful. At one time we had 13 goats of various ages, and we were milking three.

I sure will miss the little buggers!

Awww...Maybe you can just keep 2 as pets. They sure are good at brightening up a gloomy day

Congratulations on the babies but I agree with Minelson, Maybe you can just keep 2 of your favorites for pets. Don't breed them if doe's or even keep a couple wethers. That way there won't be so much work involved for you. Sometimes though if it doesn't work out the way we plan we have to sacrifice something & it's not always easy. I'm sure your kids will miss them too.

We do learn a lot from them, and any other "different" experiences, if we keep our minds and hearts open. Glad you got this goat time, and best to you in whatever your next adventure will be. Don't ever stop the adventures.

Hello, Vanessa
Do you know what you are going to ask for them if they aren't already sold? Clementine kidded last week, she had a rough start because she didn't have any milk, but it has since come in and she is doing great. She had twin doelings. Bling is the sire to all our babies, I posted a pic of the beautiful little buckling out of him.

Hope you enjoy being goat free, it would so be nice to be able to travel...

Ahhh, The Bling Man...

I saw that photo--the buckling has lovely coloring--are you having a buckling year?

I will send you a pm. I've not posted Val and the babies for sale yet. The doeling is lovely--black with white markings. The buckling is just a normal beige color.
