Smile Triplets for Mame!

After spending all afternoon tagging around after Mame' as she paced around the pasture she finally headed back to the blackberry patch and got down to business around 4:30pm. First up was an all white, blue eyed buck kid. Second was a white/black buck kid that looks a lot like her. The third kid to make their appearance was a gold/white doeling who weighs just over 1 lbs. She was covered in yellowish slime and I was sure she was dead. But the minute her nose was cleared she started screaming.

She was the second to nurse, and the first to figure out how and where on her own. Spunky little thing - sure hope she makes it. And of course I wish she had her mom's blue eyes.

I'm working on putting together a time lapse of the births since I crawled into the berry bushes and got some great pictures despite the thorns.

For now I've uploaded 5 pictures here.

They're adorable! The one little guy does look exactly like Mame! I think I like the little doe best, though.

She would stop and call to me, and wasn't trying to get away from me, so I'm guessing she was just making sure I was the only one following her.

I just can't get over how TINY the doeling is. She is barely over a pound and yet is so lively. Sure hope she survives to adulthood!

HUZZAH, MAME!!!

And good for you, too, Wags!

If your little gal has enough spunk to figure out what's what, I'm betting she'll be fine. Our littlest doeling, Wee Maeve, was the first to nurse and figure it all out. She's fine as frog's hair now, and catching up to her herd mates.
