Bloody Discharge from Vulva

Today I noticed that our doe who kidded 2 weeks ago, has some bloody discharge coming out of her vulva. It is bright red and looks like fresh blood to me. I will be calling the vet but what can cause this?

She isnt acting any different, her weight is the same and nothing has changed with her at all.

Don't worry, that's normal. When my doe did the exact same thing when she kidded last year, I nearly had a heart attack. Then I learned that it's totally normal.

Fiasco Farm's website states, "Starting about a week AFTER the kidding, the mother will begin to "leak" blood and goo for about a week or more. This is normal."

I was wondering about this, too.

Is the discharge supposed to be bright red? I always associate that with frank bleeding, and as something about which to be concerned. If I know ahead of time that it's not a big deal, I won't freak out when I see it.

My doe's was bright red and "fresh" looking. Actually, at first I saw two little chunks of things that looked like lungs in her bedding, and was trying to figure out what on earth had lost a pair of lungs in my goat's pen.

Milkyway rubbed hers along the walls. It looked like a small short murder scene. I washed the spots off the walls because families from church like to come see my super mini farm and I didn't want to scare the normal (non goat owning) folks!

It's the natural cleaning out process. Nothing to be worried about. The worst part I always thought is I like the girls to look good so I always want to clean her up, that's a mess sometimes.
Sometimes they may clean out for 2 weeks to a month so don't worry.
