Talking Animal Love Story-- Video added below!

I have been waiting until I can get pics, but to no avail... they are not cooperating...

Animal Love Story - Goats

So, on my little 'farm' I have eight chickens, four muscovy ducks, and three goats. They all run around my backyard together by day and sleep in the barn (shed) at night.

My three muscovy hens strongly dislike my drake. He's on the young side and I think they are offended that I would try to introduce them to an underaged male... whatever the reason, they chase him around and make his life generally miserable.

Which is fine, because, though his own kind may reject him, he is very loved.

By the goats.

Often times I open the barn door to find him sleeping with Lightning. I will go outside and find him grooming one of the goats.

Yesterday I looked outside to see him grooming Lightning and she was gently licking him all over-- from his head down. They were all snuggled together and relaxed-- a total love fest!

I missed getting a video of it by seconds. I will continue to try! I have had cats who love dogs, a turkey who thought he was a goose... but this one takes the cake! My goats love my drake! They like him better than they like each other!

Wild.

That is sooo cute.
We have a situation that is similar with our 2 geese and 3 Ewes. These geese will attack my mom, but not me. They have each attached themselves to 1 ewe and will stand over her while they eat. They have on several occasions grabbed hold of the rams and would not let go. Not sure how they know which are rams and which are ewes, but they do. They will tolerate the goats, but are not in love with them.

One of our Niggie does was so small when we got her that she ended up being an honorary chicken. When she gave birth last year she was at the edge of the pen as close to her flock as she could get. Several of her favorite hens were right there acting as mid wives - even gently cleaning off the kids.
