Looks like I am being forced to give up

My mom says I now have to move with her to California. Which means I have to sell my goats.

More then two years of work, a thousand dollars, so many hours... all for nothing. I lost so much, I put in so much love and time and effort, and never even got the return.

I am so sorry. I live in CA.... I sent you a PM with my information. Maybe if you are moving close to me I can keep them for you until you get settled.

Anyone near Barstow California (San Bernarndina county) that would let me keep 5 goats at their place for a while?

It just kind of sounds rude to ask of someone.

What about putting an ad on Craigslist in that area? Trade free weed control for a place to stay!

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. But it wasn't for nothing. Kaz who felt LOVE because of you. Don't ever underestimate the power of love!

I really just don't want to lose my current bottle baby, over anything else, but I can't just own one goat (he'll get depressed alone).

Experience is priceless so it was not all for nothing. You will go through life with what seem to be failures when actually you are gaining knowledge and wisdom.

I wish I had only "wasted" 2 years and $1,000. on goats!

Nothing is done till it is done. Have some hope.
You have lived a wonderful experience, but I'm hoping it all works out for you.

Too bad that I live too far from your new home to house your babies for you. Maybe you should try thegoatspot.com and see if you can find someone that lives by you. From my experience, goat people are very friendly and usually willing to help. It doesn't hurt to ask! Good luck to you!!!

How sad. Maybe you could keep at least the bottle baby, and find him a friend in California ?

I'm so sorry, Bri. It's so hard to be "not-a-little-kid but not-yet-adult" and having to live with other people's choices.

I don't want to say, "Hey, you'll get over it" because well, yeah, you probably will, but it hurts NOW.

Still and all... Give it a couple of years. You'll be back at it in a big way -- and you will be way ahead of the game because of everything you've learned so far!

The really GOOD thing is getting away from the ag teacher.

Do some leg work to find someone to house your favorite two goats when you get there.

Call the high school and ask about their ag program.

Call the national FFA office and ask for goat projects in the area.

Call the national 4-H office and ask for goat clubs in the area.

Get in the ADGA membership directory and start sending email!

YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Huggs,
Alice

I agree with Alice. This is your chance to find a really experienced goat person to house your animals! What a great way to make a clean start and get things rolling. Even if you can't take these particular goats, don't give up on the dream of owning new ones in California. Good luck!

I am sorry and you just got your new little boy. I would think of it as learning experience and a happy one for the most part, not how much time and money you have spent.
I do also understand your mom not wanting to leave you alone in Utah. She would probably worry about you all the time. Is she moving to a suburb?
it would be great if you could take one or two with you and find them a new place to live, but if you cannot just take a break for now and I am sure you will find new goats to love in a couple of years.

I hope you find some way to make it work for you.
Do you still want the copper boluses? If so, I still need your mailing address. I never received an email from you.

Yes, definitely, I don't want to leave these goats in too poor health. I sent you back a PM with my name and address

That is the kind of thing that will develope charater and gumption in a young person...go for it, Bricheze! Alice's steps will give you power over the situation and you will learn how to handle things that come up for years to come

I am very sorry. Maybe something will change, and maybe
you can find someone to keep them for you out there.
