Darn you and your talk of Boobians!
Well, actually, I was interested in getting tested boers for a while now. I've found a lady who is looking to downsize on their herd. The herd didn't test this year but I will be testing before I buy. The last time she tested (last year) they were clean of CL, CAE, and Johne's. In total, I'm getting two 2-year olds, one 1-year old (25% nubian), a doe kid (that is likely sired by a nubian, she's all black and CUTE!). Just because she had one for sale, I'm also getting a very pretty purebred nubian doe. The adult boers and nubian doe are exposed to her nubian buck, as well. It's a small world, because I met a lady locally a few months back through a sale ad I placed. I'm helping with her nubian herd (drew blood for her, am a DHIR witness for her) Turns out, it's the same place that she's also buying a nubian doeling from! I didn't even hear about the boers through her.
So, this saturday is spring goat day at the MSU pavilion in Lansing. Me my local goat friend are going together, and hopefully we'll be driving up the additional hour and 45 minutes to the place to draw blood. I'm testing my group for CL, CAE, and Johne's through WADDL. My friend is testing her doelings' dam (dam raised kid) and is doing Brucellosis as well.
The package deal for the small herd was 500.00, plus we're paying for testing. I thought that was a GREAT deal. I'm very excited.
