funny looks

Ever see some fresh pine branches that fell in a snow storm in a development and go to the door of the house to ask if you can have the branches? Boy, do you get a funny look before they are out there helping you load it into your truck so they can get rid of it.

We had so much snow that the electric fence is down somewhere but I won't be able to find it for a while.

The snow is piled so high that I had to dig out a gate to close the area so they couldn't walk out. Tying the gate closed with hay twine because everything was frozen.

And of course, the goats had to come see what I was doing and one of them got stuck in the snow up to her chest, since we got over two feet on top of the 5 inches. So I had to untie the gate, pull and push until she got out. Then another one went to the same spot.

It's melting now... only a foot left... and mud...

Oh, I feel the same! The snow was just crazy this year! I say that loosely crossing my fingers it really is done. We had 3' easy, and then our wind blew it into drifts 4-6' high. It was so high the girls were just walking over their cattle panels, and we had to put up a second layer. I still can't use my kid pens because only about the top foot of fence line is visible from the surface, and you can forget trying to open the gates - not that you'd need to, you can just walk over them to get in. This past week it's been hitting temps in the 40's & 50's, so it's all starting to melt leaving lakes and ankle deep mud everywhere. Maybe in another week I can use my kid pens . . .

Well, our snow is almost gone, now we have MUD. Boot sucking MUD. Pulled off one boot, then held the other so I could fall down in it.

I'm sorry but I just pictured that and had to laugh.
