Different color in goats

So here lately we have been looking at goats some with color and some traditional goats.

So this got me thinking what makes the Boer goats come away with either solid red color or polka dotted (Not for sure if this is right term or not) colors ?

We went and saw some kids today that all had nice color especially the little bucks one was solid red, a paint and a polka dotted in color the doe's had good traditional markings with some nice red ones in the pen also.

she wanted 200 for each buck and 100 for each of her does if I take all the does. Currently they are all about 5 weeks old.

Tomorrow, well I guess today I'm headed to look at a more traditional herd at this location http://www.glennlandfarm.com/

In my friend's Boer herd, the spotted and light red kids have parent who is a percentage Boer. The dark reds and paints just seem to show up randomly out of both fullbloods and percentages. If the herd is healthy (no CAE/CL), the price sounds good.

Thanks for the link!

If you want to get into showing, this is where I would be shopping. Beautiful animals, beautiful farm. Looks like they believe in doing ALL of it right (calves, sheep, etc.). If this a clean herd - I bet they would let you have the goats tested for CAE. At least test the dam of the kids you are interested in.

Better to buy 2 or 3 does and have better quality, than to buy 5 or 6 and have to work your way up.

Truly beautiful Boers (and they do show, so you not only have proof along with indirect bragging rights when you go to sell kids, but they should be able to show you what to look for and explain why one animal is nicer than another.)

P.S. Definitely has size on his animals.

Well went there tonight picking up 7 doe's and 1 buck from his location the owner is actually an retired Animal Science professor at CSU.

three of the does are 300 each four of the does are 250 each and he has to go back and check records to see which one of the bucks are not related to the does.

I also checked anther location and Ill be picking up Nine of her doe's in April. They are not registered but have a lot more color then the registered traditional I'm getting from Mr. Patton.

Once goats are on site I'll be taking pictures and posting them here or on my website I'm working on.

Congratulations! Can't wait to see pictures. We have Nigerian Dwarf goats but I have always like the Boer goats for some reason. Always wante one but wasn't sure about putting a big doe in with my little one's. The one's I have seen always seem so Gentle though & sweet.

Congratulations!

Make sure that your buck is a Registered Fullblood. Then you can register the Offspring of those unregistered does and show them in percentage classes.
