ideal time to breed Nigerian Dwarf

What is the ideal time of year to breed a Nigerian Dwarf goat? I live in maryland

If you want to show the doe at the fair in milk, then breed 6 months before the fair. Other than that, Nigerian Dwarfs are year-round breeders. I try to plan for them kid when the weather is more comfortable (spring or fall).

I'm in MD also! I like to wait until my NDs are a year old... which I have two girls turning one year next month. They are still a bit on the "smaller side" for my liking so i might wait a little longer with them.

My first doe is due in two weeks.... I have another due in June and then perhaps some late summer kids if I decide to breed the two yearlings.

I live in Minnesota where it is cold as heck (and snowing today). I typically breed for kids in late May - early July.

That is going to change, though, since I want to have a doe in milk year-round.
