Disbudding iron - X-30

I have the X-30 with the 3/8 tip for small goats - NOT the one for pygmy goats. The X-30 with the 1/2 said it was for calves, but anyway, the man disbudding for us asked us to bring our new iron as his was probably not heating as well as a new one would, but I am wondering if this iron is the right one and if not, can we interchange tips? Today we are taking a Kinder kid and next week the Nubian doelings.
