Golden Blend Wormer...

What do you all think about the Golden Blend Wormer you can purchase from Hoegger Supply? We are doing the goat milk share this year and I usually worm with Ivermectin 1.87% but with the goat milk share I don't want to have to throw away milk and not have enough for the share holders...If not Golden Blend then what other organic wormers work?

There are some herbal dewormer products that are unsafe for pregnant women to drink the milk. Isn't it wormwood that's dangerous?

Well Yes and no. Becuz I have use it for years and was pregnant 3 times during drinking that milk. It is on depends on how much you give. If you give herbal wormer everyday and it is bad. You know.. But It would be wise not to use that for your safety..

If she is selling the milk, that might be bad.

Learn to fecal and then you only have to worm when the numbers rise of worms problematic in your area. Plus you can then figure out if herbal wormers will even work for you on your farm. It's much more expensive to get no milk out of a dead goat than to worm with what we know works and heed a milk withdrawal time. Vicki

I use the herbal wormer from Molly's . Have been using it for years now and love it. As for the wormwood, it is given every 6-8 weeks so I simply keep the milk for the next few day for myself. No big deal.
I have had fecals done and have not had a significant worm load since I started using it. All except one older doe who did not respond to it.
I figure i would rather give the chemical ONLY if I need to. My milk customers would much rather have me use the herbs also.

Thanks everyone, I usually do fecal and ivermectin seems to work fine. I will try an herbal and do fecals with it too just to see if they are working. With our milk share and being part of RMAC I have to disclose all health managment practices to my share holders. I believe what I will do is print off the material for the herbal wormer I choose and give it to share holders so that they are aware of what is in the wormer. And I agree Vicki, no milk from a dead goat is way more expensive than throwing away milk for a few days.....besides I would be heartbroken as I love my goats!

And I do know that herbal wormer does work if we use managment as copper bolus and good minerals and keep the barn clean and etc. etc. And also do the fecal once a month or whatever..
