Frostbite???

Hello all I was wondering how to prevent frost bite on goat ears. We just got a 2mth old boer goat and her ears are what we think is frost bitten. I have only owned goats for going on 3yrs and none of mine have ever had this. She is still a cutie and so friendly so it doesn't bother me but I want to prevent any future kids from having issues if possible. Never thought I would have to worry about that in AZ lol

I used Vaseline on ear-tips last winter. It doesn't really get that cold here but I noticed a couple of my Nubian's ears would get wet from the water bucket.... put that on there just as a preventative..

I would be surprised of frostbite in Arizona too. We are in Michigan & so far I have never had a goat get anything frost bitten. I usually only hear of that happening around here in extreme temp's if the kids aren't dried off quick enough, etc.

Our your temp's really that cold? Could she have gotten the frost bite before she came to you?
I think I would try rubbing a little vaseline on them to keep the wind or cold off them if you think it's needed. I think that's what they do for chicken's or roosters comb's in the really cold weather. Thinking it would work for a goat?

She was like it when we got her. Only lived a few miles away though. Our roosters got it bad last year so I should be too surprised. We have has a few neg nights so far this year so its pretty cold I didn't think of her ears hitting the water-- I will have to check on that!!

Thanks for the vasoline tip never heard that before
