Planning to bred Mini Nubians, Kinders: no market for Nubians

For whatever reason, there seems to be no market for Nubians around here. No one else really breeds them within an hour of here, and even then, there are only two families that I've found (one doesn't really sell kids).
When the Pygmy buck got in with our Nubian doe (she is due any day now), I advertised first generation Kinders, and I have list of people wanting them through several other breedings and that is just from a few weeks of ads.
I've had listings up for months about taking reservations for Nubians kids, and I've not had a single email. All the time, I've had more inquires for Pygmy goats (which I charge 2-3 times more for than the few local people who sell them do) than I could fill or sell, and now the response with the Kinders. . .has me looking for a NPGA Pygmy buck, so I can register future kids as 1st gen. Kinders. The Pygmy goats I have now are just NMGA.
I ran across this little fellow (there were a few, but I like him best) for sale over in Lexington, Ky. He is an AGS registered Nigerian Buckling. I thought with the response to the smaller goats, maybe raising some Mini Nubians would be a good idea.
Planning to bred Mini Nubians, Kinders: no market for Nubians - Goats
Finding a Registered Nigerian Buckling around was pretty amazing, and he is still over two hours away.
I LOVE the huge Nubians myself, so I am surprised at the lack of response around here for them, but I don't want to part with them, so I guess doing Kinders and Minis will make sense until a market develops?
I imagine Mini Nubians do not bring the price Nubians do. Also what type of price difference will reg. 1st generation kids bring verses established minis?
The AGS qualifies as a registry the MDGA will accept with a NDGA doe, correct?

I have Nubians and love them. Not too many around here, either.

No Pygmy crosses allowed in MDGA because they're not classified as a dairy goat. Only Nigerian Dwarf crosses.
Added: He's a cute little feller!!!

I think that the mini's are a fad that people are just getting into. I crossed my non-registered standard goats with an ND buck this year and the babies were easy to sell at fairly high prices. Nigerians went through a real craze here too and people were getting outrageous prices for them.

I saved one mini this year to grow out, breed and see how she does on the milk stand. I've posted pics and she is TINY! I am actually disappointed as I wanted a true, half-sized doe for the milkstand, not another ND, tiny teeter. Although I love this doeling, I'm actually thinking about selling her. Of course, now that I've fed her for the last 6 months..

That's a really cute buckling, by the way. Love that coloring!

I think you should give her a chance at being a milker. If you don't like how she turns out, you could sell her in milk.

That is a very cute buckling - make sure to check his pedigree thoroughly. And ask for pictures of his dams udder and milking records if available.

I actually advertise my goats as being smaller, taking up less space and feed than a standard milking doe. I love my Nubians but they are large and eat alot. I probably can feed 3 Nigie does to what my one 275+ pound Nubian wether eats.
Aside from size and feed costs which with the economy is another factor. I think some people might be a bit scared of the larger goats. My huge wether is a total sweetie but some people avoid him when here.
Once the power guys were out here and the Nubians of course came up to the truck to be nosy and they were scared of them, I did not help the matter by telling them to watch out and not get bit since they may carry rabies I thought the one guy was going to have an attack and jumped back into his truck. I did tell them I was kidding.

Oh and the buckling is a cutie, if he fits into your bredding plans I would get him. I like his coloring.

Nope at least 275 He is off the weight tape by a few inches and it goes up to 250. I had a Nubian breeder here one day to look at LGDs and she said he was the biggest boy she has ever seen. On his hind legs he is over 7 feet tall.
My other Nubian wether who is going to be 1 years old soon weighs around 180. Maybe should have raised them on replacer instead of whole milk, lol.
They are big, eat alot and make a heck of alot of noise but they are sweet boys and they do not care when I make them "fly" with their ears

Oh my goodness! I've never seen such a huge goat. Please post pics! My husband would LOVE to have a goat that huge. I would guess our Nubian buck isn't over 150-170.
Our 5 month old Jersey Heifer is about 300 lbs, and she towers over him in girth and height, but they sleep together, which is pretty cute!
Do wethers typically get that much larger than bucks or is it just a goat to goat thing?

We have Nigerian dwarf's & Love them. We like the smaller size & actually I would Love to get a mini Nubian but haven't found any around yet. I sell our kids mostly for pet's, but some folks do buy them for milk. I choose not to milk.

I would think the prices you can sell any goats for in your area depends on the area, registered or not.
If there registered & you ask alot of money & folks in your area don't have it then they won't sell.

I think it's partly because of people like me-- who have/want backyard goats... Nubians would be cramped here, which is a shame because they are my fav.
