Unhappy Lost a doeling overnight

The week old doeling I posted about with the leg problem died overnight. I have no idea why. I plan to open her up once it's light out to see if I can see anything. She's the one that wasn't moving or breathing at birth, and has always been puny compaired to the other two.

So sorry she didn't make it. Was that the one the momma wouldn't take care of or am I thinking of a different thread?

Sometimes I think there is just something wrong internally that we can't fix but no matter the cause it's still always hard to loose them for any reason.

I was present for her birth. She hit the ground not moving or breathing. The mother showed no interest really in any of the triplets. I cleaned them all up and moved them into the house and am bottle feeding them, which was the plan anyway as mom is one of my milkers.

I'm sorry she didn't make it, sometimes it just isn't meant to be.

Well, I opened her up and found a very misshapen intestinal tract. Her colon was very thin and clean - looked unused. It attached to her much larger large intestine, but did not appear to have an opening, it was just stuck together. The intestines were full of gas and semidigested milk (she was actually nursing fairly well until last night). With things the way they were, there is no way I could have saved her.

I had noticed that she didn't appear to be pooping, so I gave her a very mild (warm water) enema, which just dribbled back out. There did not seem to be any muscle tone to the colon. I'm just glad she's not suffering anymore. I sure did get attached in my attempts to save her.
