DARN goats!

Just wanted to vent...

My 2yo alpineX has not kidded, and doesn't seem like she's going to (last possible due date is 1/10).

That's fine. I'm really ok with that. Really.

But she ALSO hasn't gone into heat that I've seen at all this year, and certainly not within the last month or so.

And my new buck is getting LESS bucky by the day. His face looks cleaner, and his smell is so much less smelly that I'm giving him scratches now. He has a slight cologne, but it's pretty clear that he isn't bothering to put any more on.

Guess I'll just have lawn mowers this spring, instead of babies to play with and a milking doe.

Has she ever kidded before? If not, I'd have have checked to see if she's a hermie.

Yes, she has. For me last spring

Super easy kidding without help, too, so I don't think there was any sort of injury.

I had to pen breed last year as I could not catch my girls in heat. I had one doe in from the middle of November until Christmas eve. She kidded on the second to the last possible date , but I could tell for about a month before that she was definately prego and I had done a pregnancy test.
