This blows my mind!...
I have been letting my goats out to run around the clearing and trim whatever they feel like. It is winter and so there isn't much for them to truly destroy, or so I thought. (All you experienced goatherds are laughing already, aren't you?)
I have a Philadelphus (mock orange bush) which needed pruning, but they have been a little too enthusiastic, so I thought, what can I put on it to make it distasteful? Aha! Cayenne! So I sprinkled a large amount of cayenne powder on the branches. Some of it fell on the ground as well.
I could not believe it -- they went for the cayenne like it was goat minerals! Now they think Philadelphus au poivre is the best thing since sliced bread. Guess I'll have to go buy some fencing to protect it. Who'da thunk?!
