Hoof Rot Vaccination?

A group of us recently attended a goat care conference in which they talked just briefly about a Hoof Rot vaccination. Wanted to check with the experts here to see if anyone uses this in their herd. Any pros/cons, advise, warnings...?? I'm not having trouble here at my place but a friend is and she asked me to check with you guys.... guess I've been known to talk a LITTLE about all the great info that I get from this forum... hahaha

She was also going to call the local livestock vet here to get their take on the vacs as well.

Thanks!!
Val

We do not vaccinate our animals for that. We have wet ground but just keep feet trimmed monthly and dip in Kopertox if you see any problems. It is mostly a copper deficiency issue. They will grow stronger feet if their mineral intake is correct.
Once we started bolusing we had no more signs of it.

I don't know of anyone who uses it. I agree, though, it's more an issue with hoof care in general. Keep the feet trimmed and keep bedding dry in the barn and you should be fine.

The only time I considered it, I was told to save my money, and I live in a part of the country where hoof rot is a regular issue.
