Post Said GOODBYE Today

Sold 2 of our goats. Momma n Baby to someone that I know. Going to go to a bigger goat later but of now only have 2 goats left went from 4 back to 2. Also sold a dog so later can start over again. Small pgmy type goats are ok but not worth having due to can't have much milk, They will be missed but went to a great home.

It's always bittersweet for me, when someone leaves (I've sold two bucks, a wether & 3 doelings just this week. Have 3 bred does leaving on friday) ALL the new homes appear to be great places & I really feel they'll take care of goats...but.. still.. Even with another 16 or 17 left, it's seems a bit empty in the barns.. I'm sure you'll fall just as hard for you dairy type does, once you get them..

The nice part of selling them to someone you know is maybe you could visit them sometime. It's hard to let them go, sometimes they just steal your heart.

My goats are leaving next week. I get all teary eyed and lumpy throated even thinking about it. I will be relieved inone way...and very saddened in another.

It's funny how you get excited about your babies going to a new home but then cry when they leave. The little boy who was leaving with my last two babies said to his mom, "she's crying". His mom said, "well, these are here babies she raised". Of course that made me cry harder. I'm such a wimpy farmer. This week one of my babies goes to the same home as the last two. I'm so excited they'll all be together. I'll cry again nonetheless. He's absolutely the sweetest goat I've ever known. I'll probably say that many times in my life about other goats. If he wasn't sold though, I'd keep him. He sold himself when the people came to see the other two that were listed at our feed store. He wasn't old enough to leave home at that time.

I am glad they got a good home, but so sorry they are leaving. I remember when you first got the momma doe. What a difference time can make!
