Curious if this is a need.

I am curious, would yall find a urine test for pregnancy in goats that is done at home useful? ( such as wee foal for Equines)

Would yall pay 35-40 dollars for this convenience?

I would find it very useful but would never pay that price unless it did several does.

I too would find it useful if the test could be performed before their next heat cycle (like in humans, the early pregnancy tests that can be done a few days before your missed period). On the other hand, we do have one doe that is quite difficult to spot heats in so it might be really useful for her in particular.

Hmmm...$35? Maybe for that one doe, but if it's a one shot deal I don't think I would be testing the whole herd!

I would never pay that price. goats are not a status animals or a high profit animal and don't justify the same expenses that horses do. and for logistical reasons it is jsut not generally as important to have quick results to a preggo check. easier access to studs
, safer pen breeding, easily transported animals to outside studs, shorter gestations and the tendency to have multiples all add up to it not being as imperative to confirm pregnancy imo.

Not when I can send it to Biotracking and for $7.50 have a definite result within 3 to 5 days!

BTW, Biotracking is working on a on-the-farm preg test right now -- and I bet it will be MUCH cheaper than $35-40.

Not unless the 35.00-40.00 was all herd. But I've never had a need to pregnancy test any of my goats, as my buck is on-site and I just keep him next door. If they come back into heat they would flirt through the fence with the buck, and I'd just toss 'em together again.

I like the idea of a home pregnancy test but not that that price. It might be worth it if you had 1-2 does and had to transport them to a buck for service, but testing larger amounts of does when you have bucks onsite it wouldn't be cost effective.

I use Biotracking now and it is nice to be able to do my CAE and preg testing from one blood shipment and tube. Cheapest way to get both services in my herd.

Biotracking is supposed to be coming up with a home test, but they've been saying that for a looooooooooong time.

I'd be interested if the price was more on par with what Bio-tracking charges.

I'd really like to know if Bridgett is preggo, but I couldn't pay that price. No. I'll just wait it out; but boy am I gonna be mad at myself if she doesn't kid in the Spring!!! and I hadn't given her lute to bring on a heat... OK. It would be VERY convenient to check without drawing, packaging, sending blood; waiting for results.. For this one doe, I might pay 35-40 after a mental battle. Yea, in the end, I'd justify it and buy a preggo kit for $30 smackers. Yes.

Now I distinctly remember knowing about this two testings ago, which would have been fall of year before last. Silly me, I was hoping they'd have it out like by the fall of the next year, and here it is the year after that even. I am impatient.
