Question Another Registration % Question

I have an MDGA Registered Mini-Mancha buck (Thank you, Alice!)

His registration papers state that he is 48.44% LaMancha, and 51.56 % Nigerian Dwarf.

I'm at sea. How do they come up with those percentages?

Thanks!

NeHi

I will check later, but I think his dam's papers say third generation. I'll get back to you.

Now, I'm confused, too. His mom IS third generation, *and* her papers say 50% LaMancha, 50% Nigerian Dwarf.

This is weird.

I thought if she's third generation Mini-Mancha, she should be 100% Mini-Mancha.

At the top of the mini lamancha page at dairygoatinfo.com is how the percentages work in a sticky. I also have a 3rd generation 50/50 and had to figure that one out also! Vicki

The sticky reads:
"Vicki had a question abt Sienna a 3rd gen who is a 50/50%
this is the answer. Take the % of the doe, add the % of the buck and then divide by 2 and you will get the % of the offspring......88% doe + 100%buck = 188.divide by 2 = 94% in other words her (Sienna) grand dam was and experimental 100% mini as was her grand sire thus she is still 100% mini or 50/50 " ; "however this doeling your getting now her mom is 50 % LaMancha and sire is 100% LaMancha thus 50+100=150 divided by 2 = 75% LaMancha and 25% ND or on her papers will read 75/25"

Like others, I'm trying to GET IT! Sorry to be so thick-headed. Can it be said that Sienna is third generation?
I think that I understand the percentage LaMancha that the kid shows. However, if the sire is 100% LaMancha, wouldn't the kid be first generation regardless of the generation of the dam?
