no good deed goes unpunished

This morning I caught two puppies (one about a year and one about 6 months) going nuts trying to get my chickens. They were very friendly, so I caught them up, checked at one neighbors house, no one knew who they were, so I put them in my bathroom and left a message with animal control. The dogs dug up my linoleum so I put them down in the feed storage shed. About 6 hours later,a guy comes up, I was out but my boy answered the door. My son did not know about the dogs, and told the man so, but my kid came to me asking if I had seen any dogs and I said yes, then I ran down the driveway to tell the guy that I had his dogs. He was so grateful, he even OFFERED to fix my bathroom. Well, 25 minutes later, the girl was at my door accusing me of stealing her dogs and lying about the chickens.... after a few words I told her to leave. The crazy female then threatened to sue me for stealing her dogs.

Next time, the dogs will be shot or sent to the pound. No 2nd chances.

I am posting this so other people can see how something so innocent can become something into having to keep loaded guns by the door because you are afraid of some nut doing damage to something you love or own.

People are crazy! How can you "steal" a stray! You did the best you could do for the little guys, and you returned them as soon as you knew who the owner was. I agree! No second chances. Since they were friendly, I would try taking to the shelter before I would shoot them. Maybe they could find a new home, or the owner would have to pay fines to get them back and decide to keep them up.

I really dislike folks who have the nerve to turn things around like that. If they return and you can easily catch them; I also vote for taking them to the pound. Maybe they could find a better home.

I would've told her it was legal to shoot strays on sight if they're going after your livestock.

That is our stray policy. Lost too many great animals to other people's irresponsibility.
If they care so much about their dogs why aren't they home.

I take all strays to the dog pound. If the owners find them there, they have to pay to get them out. If I catch them trying to hurt my animals, well, the last "S" in SSS is for a reason.

I hate when people let their dogs run around loose! When we catch strays, we take them to the pound. But, if they were after my animals, I would have my dad dispatch of them.
