Udder solution
We have a registered French Alpine with a horrible udder. (Long story) One teat hung within inches of the ground, and her mammary tissue has fallen down into the teat.
She makes a gallon a day, and her udder was a constant problem for her walking or running, and it HAD to be uncomfortable.
I tried making supports for her, which she immediately scraped off by rubbing on things, and she did the same with a purchased goat bra. UNTIL today.
I modified the goat bra by adding a strap from the front of the udder net to the chest band and from there to the collar. Now, it fits more like a harness, it doesn't choke her with all the pull being transferred up her back to the neck band, and the udder net stays in place instead of sliding back and off.
We will not be selling (or keeping) any of her offspring because of the genetics of her udder, but at least we aren't out her purchase price, and she's a happy goat now.
