Personality Change in Female nubi!
We Have a small heard of Nubians, only four, and one small borer buckling and his sister aprox 7 months old. Now he is trying his hardest to breed the girls, which is what we are looking for. ( Getting a Meat cross that is requested in for the buyer we have set up already to buy our goats. We are setting up slowly a meat goat business, or trying too. ) Now I seen our Buckling jumping off of one of my girls a few weeks back. He caught her when she was coming out of the barn and he it. There is a step down and it gives him a little more height there. Well now this girl has changed in personality towards the others in the group. She still submits to Nanny my monarch, but no longer to anyone else in the line, she is like second to last in the rank. I tie up to feed, all but one female and the buck, and of coarse the steers who eat in the barn. When everyone is close to being done, or the first steer is done I untie everyone. now she will not let anyone near her dish or give over to any except nanny, where before at this point she would just share with any of the others who wanted to come and eat along with her. It is to the point she even tries to bully the three steers off her dish if there is only half a mouthful left in it. If she goes over the the other dishes to share with them she is ok, unless they have left and she came up to it alone, then she will fight for that dish too. Now mind you at this point there is little food left in the dishes and the original owners have gotten 90% of the grain, and the go around to look for green pastures, they are a greedy lot my babies. Yes even the steers, all three of them, whom by the way by now think they are goats. They have been with the goats since we got them at 2 days old. So my question is could she be caught and pregnant, and that is why she is acting this way now? This is our first year for breeding and so have no idea what to look for. Any help on her new behavior will be helpful. The only time she acts out like this is during feeding times, all other times she stickes to her place in the ranking. Thank You Mary In Mich
