One buck will be miserable!!!
They are herd animals are only feel comfortable in a herd set up.
One alone is always under stress and thats not good.

Get them anytime you are ready.

I would not even get a buck if you do not have several does. I always tell everyone to get does and wethers first. Bucks are a lot of work and it is best to learn how to deal with the others first.

Yeah I agree.. Two bucks is a good idea if they are alone in pasture.. I need to move my buck to my girl's barn so he wont be so lonely.. I cannot wait get another buck. They are not a lot of work for me. They are a lot easier than does or milking does.. big difference

A good time to get goats is after you have read everything you can find in books and on the internet about how to care for them and what it takes to be successful raising them. If you have to ask if they need to be bred to give milk then you need much study before taking on the responsibility of keeping such a complex and needy animal healthy.

You need to visit healthy herds and ask questions and learn and read before 'getting' goats or someone will get yours....
