miniture pygmy?

Anyone ever heard of this. The lady called them something else, but said they are bred to be really small pygmy goats. She only sells as pairs so that the female doesn't get pregnant by anything bigger then her.

I don't know what else they would be called, but I saw some that couldn't have weighed over 15 or 20 pounds full grown.

I don't condone breeding of tiny goats like this. Not only are they not good for anything but pets, but the risk of a doe getting bred by a different breed is too high. How many people do you know can contain themselves to just one breed? If they don't get bigger than 15-20lbs then I would be afraid of a normal pygmy breeding them, gee. I would think the ethics of breeding animals would hopefully keep any real homesteading oriented people away. Ugh.

I have seen some small pygmies before but can't even imagine a full grown adult weighing 15 to 20 pounds. I have a Jack Russell Terrier that weighs 16 pounds & she's 7 years old.
I would be afraid of breeding anything that small even to a same size buck. Who knows what is back in his blood line & if a bigger size could come of it?

I have miniatures (essentially pygmy mixes), and I do have a miniature 'runt'. She was the runt out of quads, and every other year my first doe give me quads. She always gives one runt in the set of quads. (She goes back and forth every other year between twins and quads. ) The runt stays about 3/4ths the size of a normal miniature, but I understand she's not genetically small, but was stunted since before birth. She's kidded out just fine to a normal miniature buck in the past with normal size kids, and is the only doe pregnant currently. She had normal sized kids and did just fine - didn't even tear. Of course, I will always make it a priority to be there or to have my good goat-savy friend be there when she kids. Of course, I make it a priority for all my goats.
