Fence post question

I've had it recommended to paint the bottoms of my treated wood fence posts before I drop them in the ground, I guess for extra protection. What kind of paint would I use? Oil based? Or is this step just extra work and really not needed. This is the first time I've ever done something like this, so any advice is appreciated.

The wood is treated?? I've never painted treated wood before dropping it into the ground, BUT I also set my posts in concrete.... so maybe that's why!

I dont think it's worth the effort.
Treated posts will last almost forever anyway
There "may" be some SLIGHT advantage in painting just the ends, so water cant wick inside
