What a DUMMY!

I'm referring to myself. Yesterday I went to a fair show with a couple ND does. I wasn't sure where the check-in was or where I would be penned. My girls were in crates in the back of the car (Outback) and it was hot so I had th A/C on cool but not cold. I didn't know how far I'd have to go to find the check-in so I took my remote off the key ring and left the car running so the goats would stay comfortable and locked it and didn't even think to leave one cracked open a bit. (Kim, you idiot!) I didn't know that the darn remotes wouldn't work while the car is running. So many people gathered around to help but wow, those Subarus are made to be secure! No one had one of those tools and the Sherrif's dep't. wouldn't come out because of the liability. The guys had to tear the window seal to get a coat hanger through (and it barely fit) but the wire wasn't stiff enough to get the lock button pushed. Finally one of them thought to hook it around the window button and got the window down. The goats were in there for about an hour, munching their hay happily.
But then while I was preoccupied with that, they gave my pen to someone else who happened to be our very own bilooo2 so I didn't mind at all after my iniatial upset thinking I'd have to show out of my car. I finally got a pen inside the barn at the other end but nearer to the arena (and restrooms) so it all worked out. The people were so nice and helpful there and I helped hold goats for Sue (Buttin'Heads) and Bill and made a much needed ice cream run for us.
My own little girls did ok, the junior doe, Pippi, winning 2nd and the dry yearling Merce, winning third. So no legs this round but I had a great day in spite of my idiot-attack. I'm getting a spare key made too.

Jeesh! What an ordeal...I'm glad everything worked out. My remote works when the truck is running...hmmm. I'll have to double check that, maybe that was my other truck. But I also have a keypad on the outside I could use. I should check that to see if it will work while it's running. You got me thinking!
