Observation - seasonal issues

Usually in August there's a forum blow up. I don't know if it's the heat or the level of work with milking/deworming/kid care. But something happens.

There's usually a forum blow up in the middle of winter when the days are short, dark, cold, and the winter work exhausts us.

Let's just get past August. Everyone will feel better.

Huggs,
Alice

Bri, your tag line would be waaay funnier if it said, 'Warning: Sarcasm may have been used in the post above. If I have not offended you, I have not been trying hard enough!'

Now *that's* the crazy goat lady way.....:-) You gotta be over 50 and wear a red hat besides......<G>

I try real hard not to use sarcasm. To be sarcastic is to mind screw the person receiving the message.

First, the person being sarcastic merges realism with sarcasm and cops-out with, “I was just being sarcastic.” ; “It was just a joke. Can’t you take a joke?” When confronted with what was meant one then deeply apologizes sarcastically which mocks the person’s intelligence who believes it real. (If one gives advice to lie about a goat, then says “aww shucks it was just a joke..” I can only see this as a fugly mind-game.) This is not funny to me.

Second, the person receiving the message has no means to determine what is real and what is sarcastic in it all. Thus one chooses to believe it or not – which makes the sender happy to be in control of the other.

School teachers are encouraged not to use sarcasm. Books on parenting recommend against it.

Alice, it is still August. . ..

I genuinely apologize to my fellow goatherders on HT for my last several posts. The reason for my strong posts on the other thread is that I lost a friend to violence that was probably preventable – if some one had only listened to his wife when she jokingly said that she’d kill him. Instead, they didn’t think that she’d really do it. She spends life in prison; the kids get raised by elderly grandparents. And I am bitter towards words of violence left unchallenged, or excused with whatever silly words come after the but, the however, the and, etc.

I have learned so much from people here, and I should be talking/responding/asking about goats instead of railing against other issues that belong on other forums. The feelings inside of me have been greatly contorted on here by issues not related.

I’ll just take a break from this forum until the August heat is over. See ya’ll when I have cooler weather and attitude.

Paul

I know I'll be glad when this heat wave passes that were in now, I better not be too glad yet as I haven't got 1 single red tomato yet! Bad year fo gardens. The goats, rabbits & I all like it alittle cooler than 90 degree's & humid!

So sorry for the loss of your friend Paul, That is really really hard thing to handle! Big Hugs coming your way!
