County Fair is done

Well, it was a bitter sweet fair. It was the last county fair my daughter can show in because she ages out.

But she placed first in Showmanship, so she was in the Round Robin. She took two firsts ans one second in the show with her goats. She only took three, I had to beg her to take them, she only wanted to take one because she wanted to just have fun.
Anyway, she she was in the Round Robin. (If you do not know what that is, all the Grand and Reserve Champion showmen for the following species show together to see who is the best showman of the year, Fiber/Pygmy goats, Dairy Goats, market goats, Horse, Dairy Cow, Steer, lambs and Hogs). They are all in their station and you have 5 minutes to show in showmanship for each section and to answer questions. Well my daughter was reserve last year and she did not even want to do it but I made her because the younger kids look up to her. Well she said she was only going to do it but just have fun. They announced the winners, *,7,6,5,4,3. thought, WOW she blew it. I mean they were already saying the names of some of the kids that show 4 of those projects, and she only does fiber goat. Anyway, they said 2,1 Reserve Champion, and then Grand Champion, and they said Breena Harfert. I thought I was going to fall out of my seat, and I thought her chin was going to hit the floor. I was so proud of her, so she went out her last year with a bang.
It was not that I did not think she could do it, it was because she was more goofing off and out there just to have fun, but I guess she was so relaxed and not stresses that she was comfortable. The judges notes all said something to the affect, (Very good showman, very knowledgeable and very comfortable).

So the fair was great, all but I had to climb on the goat panels to unplug the lights and I fell, and broke my wrist and three ribs. OH well it was a blast.

Your daughter had better let YOU wear that Round robin belt buckle! Sometimes a little nudge has great results. I am so sorry you hurt yourself! Every time we clamber up on those gates, fences, showbarn panels, I worry too! Our fair starts on the 13th. Thanks for the heads-up...I'lll be extra careful this year!

"Fair"- the other 4 letter F word." This epiphany came after almost 10 days straight at our county fair.
