Newbie alfalfa question

Okay, the alfalfa obviously is in locally, ads all over Craigs list, and they are anywhere from half the price I am paying to a $3.00 savings. I know my girls like flaky, but that is about it. I have been buying middle of the road, local feed barn just offers #1, 2 and 3. On Craigs list they have Grass 10.50, sudan 7.50 and bermuda 3-way grain? 8.75 and just alfalfa for 9.50. I have two little Nigerians, very little rain here, no barn, but I do have pallets and I can buy tarps, should I buy six months worth or a year and what kind. Looks like we are using a bale a month?

Yours truly,
Totally Lost.

If you are using that little, then buy it as you need it. Less likely for it to mold and go bad.

If you have no place to store it out of the elements then I would only buy what I need at a time also. The only problem with that is when it gets close to the start of a new season here you might not find what you want.

My goats have alot more waste with the straight alfafa hay since it has so many stem's usually so I try to get some mix hay's & alfafa hay too so they have a little of both all the time. Plus we have alfafa growing here so I can get that easier.

It will depend on how easy it is for you to get alfalfa in the off-season (is there an off-season in your area)?
