The countdown and guessing begins

As you are all PAINFULLY aware, I missed the entire breeding season last year and bred quite late this year. The buck was allowed to run with all 5 of my adult does starting almost exactly 5 months ago so.... here we go on a quest to make me insane.

I could easily tell that our ND doe was in heat on July 4th so she should be due very soon. She is a FF and definitely developed a big belly and an udder so I have no doubt that she is prego.

Herriot, my ober doe, has gotten quite fat and her udder just filled up too so I imagine she's due pretty soon.

We know that Daisy (ober/saanen) was bred August 4th so she has some time left but she certainly does not look pregnant.

Clementine (ober/sannen/nubian) doesn't look very big but her udder is looking about 1/2 full and I'm pretty sure that it was shrunk down to nearly nothing from being dry for a year. I have no clue when she was bred so just need to watch her.

Carmel is 8 and she did not conceive the last time she was bred so I will be surprised if we get anything.

Of course, last time i ran a buck with these girls I got NOTHING and I was taking pictures of their bellies and rear-ends so we'll see. I am positive about two of them but am guessing at the rest.

I am confused. In heat on July 4th so should be due soon? Bred Aug 4th so has some time left? That would be like 1 yr gestation??

SORRY!!!! I told you I'm going nuts. Yes, 5 months before those due dates.

If I meant those dates, we would all know what my problem is, yes?

I took a few pics and will add them shortly.

Actually, the ND doe went into heat on Feb 5th, the Nube on Feb 15th and the Ober/Saanen on March 4th so I think I have approx July 4th, July 15th and August 4th.

Here's Herriot. I am a little worried because she has a pretty rough coat and looks thin (besides the belly). She has been treated for worms and lice and has been eating good hay, alfalfa pellets and grain.

Anyway, she's got an udder so I would say - she's preggers - RIGHT?

This is Clementine. She would be due in a little over 3 weeks. Not much of an udder but I'm pretty sure this is more than she's been carrying around the last year and a half while dry. Preggers, RIGHT?

I thought I uploaded one of my ND. I'll go ahead and post these and work on that.

Here's the ND doe (FF). She has GOT to be pregnant because she has an udder and has only had little teats previously. Harder to see on her but it has definitely grown more lately.

I would guess that the first pic (Herriot) represents the doe that was bred first, although I can never tell when she's in heat. Her udder has gotten pretty tight in the last few days. She also never has discharge or anything before she gives birth and usually just surprises us with twins.

cjb-
I'm right with you on the wait and see and guess game. I even started a game with friends and family with prizes. The game goes: I have 7 does. Guess how many and what gender. I put the buck in on the first of the month and took him out the last day of the month. I sent pics through kodak gallery to anyone that participated. We had a date on one doe that was hand bred for June 20 and she kidded on her due date. She looks like your harriet from the back! It gives me something else to obsess about so keeps my mind busy and still connected.
Yesterday another doe kidded. I had her pegged for going longer but then her udder filled and she had strange behavior so we stalled her. Both buck and doe were white but she had an amazing black doe.
Thats two done here and five to go.
I was wondering how you and your girls were doing. Glad you finally posted cause I was going to ask you today.
SOmeone wnat to pm me and telll me how to get pics on here. I'm ready to brag.
Pam

Yep, they look pregnant to me.

Herriott has what appears to be a "fishtail" which indicates a copper deficiency - that would explain why she looks a little bit rough.

I feel your pain - I'm waiting on my last doe to kid. I had two due dates for her, but she kept coming back into heat, so I just left her in with the buck. Now I have no idea, but it's got to be soon, from the look of her. She's a miserable thing and I can't get hold of her to check her ligaments, not without chasing her down, which I don't think is a good idea.

I agree on the copper, too. So we have been bolusing last week. We still have a few to go - My gidget will be getting hers this week. She doesn't have the fish tail but the rough coat, definately. We have so much iron in our water, here.

cjb-Maybe Harriot looks thin cause she 'dropped'. The kid dropped getting ready to come out. They always look so boney through the hips when they are that close. Watch for full udder and different behavior. But good luck. I was suspicious with Gidget so checked her every two hours and the kids were just there when I went out to check. Cleo was more obvious. She started to call while out browsing and went into a stall, showed labor signs and normal stages. None had 'goo' before the kids came, but Cleo had a tiny bit of white 'goo' on her you-know-whatee before she went into the stall.
Its all so fun isn't it?!
Keep up posted, we are right here with you!
