I tried something new, we'll see if it works now?

The mosquito's & flies & gnats have all been so bad this year probly with all the rain, high temp's & humidity I would guess all add to the bug problems.
Anyways I was using the spray you hook on your hose to spray the yard, flower bed's, edge of garden, etc. for mosquito's & all the other bugs it get's rid of when it hit me! Why don't I spray all around the goat's area's, in their out buildings, in the barn & around the rabbit's, etc. So anyways that's what I did. You should have seen the mosquito's come up out of anything growing around too.

The bottle says it is good for mosquito's, grub's, fire ant's, white flies, flea's, tick's & a host of other bugs & last's up to either 4 or 8 week's(can't remember which one). This particular brand is by cutter but I had another one by ortho too, one lasted longer than the other.

The place's that the hose wouldn't reach I put a cup in a hand held sprayer & added the gallon of water & did houses, etc. that way.
Sure hope it work's! I didn't even use a whole bottle & it was on sale for $7.99 & if it work's it was worth it. I'm hoping I won't have to be chasing goats around every couple days to spray with skin so soft this way.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thats a great idea, why didn't I think of it, I'm in an all out war with flies this year, they are carrying all my animals off. I'll pick up some of that stuff, thanks,

Well today is the first day but when I was spraying all the growth around the pen's you should have seen the mosquito's take off. I sprayed the inside of all the buildings, ground, decking & platforms where the goats like to lay, wall's inside & out. I'm hoping it works too. My goats run everytime they see me with a spray bottle, they think I'm coming after them again with the skin so soft & usually I am.

I noticed a bump on one of my kid's butts. Took a closer look... yep, warble. Haven't seen them in a loooooong time. Since I had my rabbits and never on my goats before.

Ive had allot of customers buy the pymerithirn concentrate saying it works well and for less than six bucks it makes 8 gallons or more depending on how strong you want to make it.

I hear you on flies! With a dairy, they are always an issue. Thanks to Vicki I found out about Quickbayt a few years ago.
If you can get QuickBayt from the feed/garden/farm store, it works wonders on the fly population. It is a little tiny pellet that you sprinkle on your windowsills or hang it in a container from a rafter(to keep it away from everything), or anywhere else that your critters can't get to. It attracts the flies and instantly kills them. The floor will be littered with dead flies, its a warm fuzzy feeling.
Works better than any spray ever tried and I like the fact that is sits there and doesn't go anywhere which is another thing I dislike about sprays. Really great flykiller.

I second the quick bayt! that stuff is awesome! although you are not supposed to use it inside a home I keep a little on paper plate in the house and freshen the bait every few days. once when the door got left open I sprinkled it on the kitchen floor. about an hour later all those flys were spinning circles on their backs on the floor! what a beautiful sight! I also keep a bait station on the porch now and any flies that venture up near the house get a nice little last snack. sure beats other pesticide solutions since it is so targeted.

minelson is right. it's actually cool in a way. the fly will lay eggs on a mosquito, the larva hatches and goes to the warmth and under the skin. i think it excreats a natural anestetic because when i used to cut them out of the bunnies, they didn't flinch. big ugly things

Its the best thing thats ever worked around here. My sister and I live in an old trailer. We get flies that come from nowhere, inside the house. I think they are still finding a hole we missed. I sprinkle the quickbayt in the windowsills and no more flies. Like I said, a warm fuzzy feeling.

I'll remember about the quick bayt for the flies, it sounds like really good stuff.

The reason I was using the spray though was actually I was using it around the house, flower bed's, etc. to get rid of at least control the mosquito's & I thought why not use it around the goat's houses & area's too for the mosquito's mostly is why I was using it.

Cannon Farm's, are customers using the permerithrin conentrate as a perimeter spray or in animal's houses, etc. or directly on the animals? The mosquito spray has the same stuff in it too.

Wow!

After reading this post, I tried some of the Ortho Bug B Gone Max that I had sitting around. I sprayed it around the barn and the house and it did make a difference! We have been VERY wet this year and warm, so our mosquito numbers have been through the roof. Thanks for the idea!
