Hollerin' buck= first doe of season bred!

Ok, so here we go...yesterday, my boer buck screamed his head off. I thought poor old Satin was scouring, her backside was so dirty. Then I noticed that it was dust stuck to all the goo she had. Boy howdy, did she get bred! My first kids, knock on wood, are due around November 17th. Yippee and yahoo! I think Cupcake is in heat today! I am shooting for Nov/Dec kids this year. Rut is happening! Earliest we've ever had a buck so vocal and active.

Talking trash! I love it! At our house, I think it borders on "death metal" music, though I think my buck is more melodic. Today Cupcake definitely bred, so we are now two due, on November 14th and 15th. Yippee. I just came in from a 10 p.m. check, and he's definitely interested in Buttercup, so I'm hoping she's next. This year I would just be tickled if they all bred around the same time. It would definitely save my sanity a bit on remembering dates for decocc treatments, etc. Meanwhile, over on the berry bushes, my husband dropped an "f" bomb when he found the wethers starting in on his newly planted (and fenced in but not strongly enough) birch trees. I speedily helped him move electric to OTHER SIDE of said trees, in order to avoid a lengthy diatribe about how worthless goats are, etc. Although I'm going to start keeping track of his fishing trips, gas, fly line, etc. and save THAT info for the next round. I think his occasional fish is a LOT more expensive per pound than the goat meat I put on the table.

Its that time of year

Around here my older neighbors tell their grandkids the girls are getting serenaded through the night. Glad they say it with a smile. I was afraid with 6 bucks locked up the neighbors were going to start a BBQ one weekend.

2XL has been SCREAMING all day! And Buttercup is "lovin' it"! Number 3 bred, today for sure, all day. I think I may have to charge a quarter for folks walking down our road, because there is definitely a show going on! I've never had a buck this "vocal" before. I should have named him Barry White!
